Indigenous Beading Workshop
This project teaches a skillset that is traditional to many Indigenous nations and has become a popular art expression for many Indigenous people. Teaching beadwork is a way of preserving traditions among familiars. Sharing stories is an integral part of Indigenous traditional education, and conversations in class will include stories and histories that are important for Indigenous peoples. The fall session features a beaded orange shirt project to bring awareness and contribute to community healing.
This project is offered on Saturdays 9:30AM-11:30AM at Mt. Pleasant Community Centre. All Elders and seniors are welcome. No experience required. Supplies will be provided. For more information, contact Nelle Lee.
Accessibility Information about Mt. Pleasant Community Centre can be found on pg. 2 of their programming brochure. Rates for the paid parking lot beneath the community centre can be found here.
